The 21st Century Workplace: Adaptive Strategies for Career ManagementKevin B. Stoltz, Ph.D. is an assistant professor in the Department of Individual, Family, and Community Education at the University of New Mexico. He is a National Certified Counselor and Approved Clinical Supervisor. His research interests include, career development and counseling, career assessment with early recollections, career transition, and the integration of career and mental health counseling. Kevin has published in national and international journals regarding, career techniques used in counselor supervision, career transition, applications of motivational interviewing in career counseling, and Adlerian constructs used in career counseling. He served as Chair of the Mentoring Committee and Research Committee for National Career Development Association. He has provided invited editorial service to the Journal of Vocational Behavior, Clinical Supervisor, and British Journal of Guidance and Counseling. Additionally, he serves on the editorial boards of the Career Development Quarterly, Measurement and Evaluation in Counseling and Development, Journal of Individual Psychology, and the Global Journal of Psychology.

counselors and coaches help their clients understand that while they may not be able to become anything they want to be, the can certainly be a lot more of who they already
are. The focus of this presentation is to provide the career client the unique perspective a counselor or coach can bring using a strengths based approach.

Career Coaching Using Two Coaching Strategies
This workshop will cover the use of two coaching strategies – the “Wheel of Life and “Coaching on the Line” to assist clients with making career choices. Attendees will
learn how to utilize both of these tools as well as their application to assist a client with a career choice. These tools have multiple uses with high school students and adults in
any setting. Using them creates an interactive approach that allows clients to become actively involved in the decision process and to move past blocks they may have to
making decisions. They facilitate the client to evaluate various career options as well as visualize what it would be like to move forward with a decision.
